Mazda has announced prices and UK specifications for the MX-5 facelift. The upgraded roadster goes on sale in April with prices starting at £16,345, £205 cheaper than the outgoing model.
The new Mazda MX-5 gets a new front and rear, and a lightly restyled interior. Power outputs from the 4 cylinder engines remain the same at 125bhp for the 1.8 litre and 158bhp for the 2.0 litre. The 2.0-litre cars start at £17,345.

The 2.0 litre has a higher rev limit, raised to 7500rpm, while peak power is generated at 7000rpm. Cars with the six-speed manual box come with what Mazda calls an Induction Sound Enhancer, designed to make the engine sound “more exciting.”
The real changes are under the skin, where the car has reworked chassis aimed at further tightening the MX-5’s handling. The roll centre (the point at which the car’s body begins to roll to the left or right) has been lowered to improve the car’s turn in.
There is also the option of a six-speed paddle-shift auto called Powershift with the 2.0 litre engine. CO2 outputs are down – from 174g/km to 167g/km in the 1.8 – and fuel consumption falls accordingly, with the 1.8i now returning 40.4mpg.
The folding hard-top Roadster Coupe now costs from £18,345 and gets a different grille to differentiate it from the roadster.
