Audi confirms no RS6 for America (U.S)

Audi officials in the U.S confirmed that despite pleas from hardcore enthusiasts, the 2009 Audi RS6 will not come to the U.S.

"The volume just doesn't justify it," said Jeff Kuhlman, Audi's chief communications officer. Audi only expects to build 8,000 RS6 sedans and wagons throughout its current life.

Certifying the RS6 for U.S sales would likely increase its cost basis above and beyond the already unfavorable exchange rate. The RS6 starts at €105,550 in Germany and £77,000 in the UK.

The 572bhp sedan made its official debut at the 2008 Moscow motorshow. It features a 5.0 litre, twin-turbo V10 and the company's signature Quattro all-wheel drive. Audi claims it will accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds.

The Audi S6 is currently the most powerful sedan in the Audi U.S lineup. It features a 435bhp, 5.2 litre V10.
